Corinne is a Principal Analyst with ClearEdge Partners, focusing on the Networking and Security spaces.
Q: What’s the best thing about working at ClearEdge?
A: The people. While I love the work that I do, the enjoyment would be gone without the Analyst team. The people that create the culture at ClearEdge have made it a place of inclusivity. No one is pushed aside. They are constantly looking for ways to pull everyone up, to make everyone better. We are constantly being encouraged to explore different paths that interest us and ways to add value.
Q: What have you discovered about yourself here?
A: I came from a background in competitive sports. From a young age, I was always pushing people aside to prove I was better. I should be the one on their roster! I should be the one on the ice! As a goalie, there was a very individual aspect to my position. Over the years at ClearEdge, I’ve adjusted this mindset. I derive much more satisfaction from being more team-oriented and in supporting the success of the team. I’ve learned to share my knowledge and ask other people for their point of view.
Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A: I grew up with many pets, and loved all of them, so I saw myself as Dr. Doolittle. As I got older I realized that being a vet meant dealing with the hard parts of being an animal lover. Math was a better fit for me, so I switched from pre-vet in college to Economics, and here we are today.
Q: What’s a typical day in the life of an Analyst?
A: I spend my morning identifying and prioritizing client needs. This may include analyzing a deal, researching changes in the market, collaborating on calls about strategy and deal findings, and many other things.
On most days, I find time to think about ways to improve our client support. I am working with other team members to develop the “Early Warning System” to help our clients be more proactive with their suppliers. We also spend a lot of time considering how we can refine our data collection. Over the last year, we’ve focused on reporting back to clients on trends we see in the cases they bring to us. This requires consistent and accurate data collection, and we are continually striving to do this better and faster.
Q: What do you like most about working with your clients? Your peers?
A: Learning from them. I have come to realize that my point of view is quite different from many of my co-workers and our clients. I’m often surprised to hear what they bring to the table. I enjoy defending my position, but I also hope I am open-minded enough to listen and adjust to other perspectives, too.
Q: How did you come to ClearEdge?
A: I came to ClearEdge through a friend. I knew immediately it was the right place for me when I met all the dogs in the office (sadly this is no longer a reality at ClearEdge because we’ve grown too big, but it was great while it lasted). I saw that I could make an impact at ClearEdge early on, apply my analytical skills to the work we do, and continue to learn a lot.
Q: What do you do outside of work?
A: Last year, a co-worker and I competed in an Iron man Tri-Athalon. I had no business racing in an Iron Man since I'd never even run a marathon, but it was fun trying! I also like trying new restaurants in Chicago (where I live and work). Stuffing my face has become a daily event due to all the exercise I’m doing.
